Join the UMD Libraries as it hosts an opening reception to celebrate a new major exhibition titled, Rising Up: 100 Years of Student Activism for Justice and Civil Rights at the University of Maryland. The exhibit will be on display in the lobby of Hornbake Library during the 2023-2024 academic year and features archival photos, oral histories, multimedia displays, and memorabilia documenting the history of student activism at the University of Maryland.

All UMD students are invited to a town hall event with the College Park mayor and council candidates on Monday, October 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in advance of the November election. Students will have the opportunity to interact directly with council candidates from all four districts as well as the mayor who is running unopposed for re-election.

It will be held in Thurgood Marshall Hall (TMH) 0301, and food and drink will be provided! This event is co-sponsored by the Student Liaisons to the City Council, University Honors, the Student Government Association, and the Department of Communication.

The TerrapinSTRONG Symposium is an opportunity for faculty and staff to learn from each other about diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging (DEIJB) topics. The annual campus conference day provides space to bridge the work of scholars, researchers and practitioners to create greater collaboration and to provide insights from all sides that may inform our work.

Each year, the TerrapinSTRONG Symposium will select a theme and solicit presentation proposals from faculty and staff with expertise in the area. This year, a number of University Honors-affiliated faculty will be presenting: Jennifer Roberts, K. Frances Lieder, Robert Graham and Yu-Wei Yang.

Join the BSOS Dean's Student Advisory Council for a panel on Zoom with the Feller Center, professors across the college, and alumni to take about gap years, careers, and working after undergrad. Terp Thon is a year-long student-run philanthropy organization at UMD that benefits Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC. Days of Miracles is Terp Thon’s largest fundraiser and campus engagement push of the Fall semester, and it will take place from November 15th - 17th.

Join The Spirit of Success at the Stamp Student Union at the University of Maryland in the MICA Conference Room for an exciting event about career readiness and using your future career for service and advancing our world positively. The panel will discuss questions like: What is the meaning of success? Why is service important?
