Student Spotlight: Jiayi Wang – IBH (Sophomore)

About Jiayi

Jiayi Wang is a sophomore in the Interdisciplinary Business Honors (IBH) program majoring in finance and information systems. She is involved in IBH as a teaching assistant for HBUS 100, a peer mentor, a member of the student advisory board, and a student ambassador for the Honors College. 

Outside of IBH, she is involved in many different organizations such as Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity, Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) honors program, and Smith Finance Group. In her free time, Jiayi enjoys finding new food places, going on spontaneous adventures with her friends, and seeking thrills at amusement parks. 

Achievements & Accomplishments

Jiayi is a Banneker Key Scholar and received the Robert H. Smith Scholarship for the 2023-2024 school year. Last semester, she and three other students in IBH placed third in the National Undergraduate Deloitte Case Competition at Deloitte University. 

What do you like about the Honors College?

“I really enjoy all of the incredible friends and mentors I’ve met through the IBH program. IBH gave me a community like no other that has pushed me both personally and professionally.”

What advice do you have for prospective students going through the college application process?

“Always try to put yourself out there and don’t be afraid to try new things.”
