Hope, Healing, and Mobilizing Against Hate

March 28 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm

You are invited to join the next gathering of the Hope, Healing, and Mobilizing Against Hate community at UMD on Friday, March 28 from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (lunch included) in the Stamp Student Union Prince George’s Room. This group of students, faculty, and staff committed to all forms of social justice creates a space for people wherever you are in your journey in and towards racial and social justice, whether just beginning or having been in the work for your whole life.

This event will offer a few key opportunities:

  • to get to know each other better and build trust and connection across campus coalitions;
  • to show an ethic of care and love during this time;
  • to break out of our silos;
  • to build capacity for this particular chapter of the work towards racial justice; and
  • to center taking care of our bodies during this time.

This session will be facilitated by Rev. Shige Sakurai (they/them) and will focus on the ways that rituals, dreams, art, and discernment can help to deepen our sense of purpose and imagine a better future.

Everyone is welcome. Space is limited; first come, first enrolled.

Any questions? Email Beth at bdc1@umd.edu.

This session is sponsored by the Anti-Black Racism Initiative, the Division of Student Affairs, the School of Public Health, the College of Information, the Department of Sociology, the School of Public Policy, the College of Education, the University Libraries, College Park Scholars, Bias Incident Support Services (BISS), and the Graduate School.
