You are invited to participate in a research study on second-generation South Asian American women college students and leadership.
The purpose of this study is to explore how race and gender influence leadership definitions and approaches. Students who meet the following criteria are eligible for this study:
- South Asian women
- Enrolled at UMD as undergraduate students
- Second-generation (born in the U.S., parents born in South Asia)
- Engaged in leadership activities (i.e., student organizations, student government and RAs, service, activism)
- 18 years or older
Participation in the study consists of one 60-90 minute interview via Zoom (interviews will be video recorded) and a visual, where participants will be asked to create a drawing based on a prompt. Participants who complete participation in the interview and submit the visual will receive a $40 gift card to their choice of Starbucks or Target.
Responses will be kept confidential by removing identifying information from the transcripts and the use of pseudonyms. Participation in this study is completely voluntary and you may choose to discontinue participation at any time.
