Serve Your City is currently looking to recruit UMD students to engage with and tutor DC K-12 school youth, completely virtually!
Serve Your City is a community-based, Black-led virtual tutoring organization that provides resources, experiences and programs for the most underserved populations in Washington, DC. Their goal is to train, teach and inspire at-promise students by giving opportunities to those that need them the most.
The spring, summer and fall iterations of this program have served close to 200 students. Going into Fall 2022, the need for tutors will be very high due to the challenges of virtual school and the lack of resources provided to the community. This is especially true for Black, Latinx, students from low-income families, and students with disabilities who have been hit the hardest and are falling behind. This is also a great opportunity for students who want more experience in education and various subject matters.
