Together, the BSU/UMD Social Justice Alliance, 2nd Lieutenant Richard W. Collins III Foundation and The Mission Continues will join efforts to support the incredible nonprofit Intersection of Change on their Strength 2 Love 2 Farm project. The group will assist the farm with fencing, cleaning sidewalks, shelving in a trailer, and installing solar lighting if time permits. Strength 2 Love 2 Farm is one of the largest urban farms in Maryland and suppliers of fresh food in the city and they work alongside veterans and residents to advance their impactful work.  

Participate in the Interfaith Storytelling Exchange hosted by the UMD Division of Student Affairs on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 3-5 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom Lounge in the Stamp Student Union.

Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising event held on March 8 for all members of the University of Maryland community. Students, alums, faculty, staff, parents and friends join the largest day of giving because when thousands of Terps come together, the possibilities are limitless!

The Terp to Terp Campus ReUse Store coordinated by the Department of Resident Life was created to respond to students’ essential needs while encouraging a culture of social responsibility and reducing waste generation. On Wednesday, March 8, Terp to Terp will collect or distribute unused or gently used clothing by students, faculty and staff.

On Monday, March 13, 2023, the Bowie State University and University of Maryland Social Justice Alliance will host a gripping episode of Gutsy, the docu-series hosted by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton at the UMD Hoff Theater. The Clintons embarked on an unforgettable journey around the country to interview some of the world's boldest and bravest women, including unsung heroes. This episode will feature Mrs. Dawn Collins, mother of Lt. Richard Collins III who was murdered at the University of Maryland and Ms Susan Bro, mother of Heather Heyer who was murdered near the University of Virginia. They will host both mothers for a powerful conversation about their experiences and relationship after the screening. The conversation will focus on themes of racism in America, the impact of white supremacy culture, and authentic allyship and will conclude with a call to action for our campus communities.

Adele's Circle of Women will hold their annual Service Day on Saturday, April 1 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They are seeking volunteers to serve at TerpFarm and CentroNia on this day.

Join Combating Overdoses in Rural Areas (CORA) at JMZ2206 for an In-Person Overdose Response Training on April 6th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Become certified in opioid overdose response and learn how to use Naloxone. Celebrate this year’s Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month with a night of storytelling through art and performance! The Memories in Motion Concert will take place on Friday, April 7th at Hoff Theater located in the Stamp Student Union, featuring Bay Area rapper, spoken word artist and director Ruby Ibarra in concert, followed by a Q&A.

The Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice and the Student Government Association are co-sponsoring a speaker event to host Professor Erica Suter on April 10th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Charles Carroll Room in the Stamp Student Union. Suter is the Director of the Innocence Project Clinic at the University of Baltimore School of Law and Adnan Syed’s attorney. She will be discussing Adnan Syed’s case and its developments, the Innocence Project, and the prevalence of wrongful convictions in the criminal justice system. Join this lecture and Q&A to learn more about the project.

The Datathon, open to ALL UMD students, is an 11-day-long, data-focused competition. Students will use their problem-solving, analytics, and data visualization skills to pitch a company to investors planning to buy and rent properties in NYC through a popular short-term apartment rental platform. This year's Datathon will award a total of $6,000 in cash prizes!

Pitch Dingman Competition, the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship’s signature annual Shark Tank-style competition, provides the university’s most talented student entrepreneurs the opportunity to compete for seed funding and exclusive access to venture development resources. This year, the Dingman Center is offering more prize money than ever before and a brand new fourth competition track designated exclusively for previous winners of University System of Maryland entrepreneurship competitions.
