Pitch Dingman Competition, the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship’s signature annual Shark Tank-style competition, provides the university’s most talented student entrepreneurs the opportunity to compete for seed funding and exclusive access to venture development resources. This year, the Dingman Center is offering more prize money than ever before and a brand new fourth competition track designated exclusively for previous winners of University System of Maryland entrepreneurship competitions.

Maryland Leadership Conference

During this day, you’ll engage in team activities, small group dialogues and real-life applications. Gift of Giving Gala 2023

Join the Student Success Leadership Council (SSLC) and the University of Maryland Black Alumni (UMBA) Network for the annual Gift of Giving Gala.  The Gift of Giving Gala (G3) is a scholarship and awards gala to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Black alumni, students, faculty and staff. Scholarships will go to several current and incoming students through the Student Success Service Leadership Scholarship. This black tie affair will bring together Black alumni, students and supporters with a cocktail reception including open bar, seated dinner, awards ceremony, live band, DJ and dancing.

Dorchester County – Harriet Tubman Tour

Dorchester Hall is named after a county in Maryland that has such a rich history and is home to the formidable Harriet Tubman. It is important to understand that history and carry on the legacy of this American hero. Hosted by Honors Global Communities (HGC), the tour will take place on Sunday, April 23. The group will depart the University of Maryland at 10:30 a.m. and return to campus around 6:30 p.m. Light breakfast and a box lunch will be provided.

Do Good Challenge Finals

The annual Do Good Challenge inspires students to make a difference for the issues, ideas and communities they care about. Students from across campus spend the year advocating, fundraising, volunteering and developing solutions to tackle pressing social issues. Six Finalist teams will pitch their project or venture and the impact they’ve created for the chance to win a share of more than $20,000.

Opioid Overdose Response Training

Interested in harm reduction? Join Combating Overdoses in Rural Areas (CORA) at Jimenez Hall 0205 for an In-Person Overdose Response Training on April 26, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Become certified in opioid overdose response and learn how to use Naloxone. Upon completion of CORA's MD BHA-approved training, you will receive a certificate of training. This a great resume booster and no prior experience is required.

CP Flea

CP Flea is a pop-up outdoor flea market that will showcase various student-run small businesses selling vintage and handmade goods to promote sustainable shopping. The fashion industry accounts for an astonishing 10% of carbon emissions and is one of the biggest polluters in the world. CP Flea encourages college students to shop purposefully while discouraging the “disposable” mentality so prevalent in the world of fast fashion. A portion of all sales proceeds will be donated to Remake, a nonprofit organization that advocates for fair pay and climate justice in the clothing industry.

This event is organized as part of DCC student Samantha Liu's capstone project.
