Innocence Project Speaker Event with Professor Erica Suter

The Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice and the Student Government Association are co-sponsoring a speaker event to host Professor Erica Suter on April 10th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Charles Carroll Room in the Stamp Student Union. Suter is the Director of the Innocence Project Clinic at the University of Baltimore School of Law and Adnan Syed’s attorney. She will be discussing Adnan Syed’s case and its developments, the Innocence Project, and the prevalence of wrongful convictions in the criminal justice system. Join this lecture and Q&A to learn more about the project.

Smith Analytics Consortium 4th Annual Datathon

The Datathon, open to ALL UMD students, is an 11-day-long, data-focused competition. Students will use their problem-solving, analytics, and data visualization skills to pitch a company to investors planning to buy and rent properties in NYC through a popular short-term apartment rental platform. This year's Datathon will award a total of $6,000 in cash prizes!

Gift of Giving Gala 2023

Join the Student Success Leadership Council (SSLC) and the University of Maryland Black Alumni (UMBA) Network for the annual Gift of Giving Gala.  The Gift of Giving Gala (G3) is a scholarship and awards gala to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Black alumni, students, faculty and staff. Scholarships will go to several current and incoming students through the Student Success Service Leadership Scholarship. This black tie affair will bring together Black alumni, students and supporters with a cocktail reception including open bar, seated dinner, awards ceremony, live band, DJ and dancing.

Dorchester County – Harriet Tubman Tour

Dorchester Hall is named after a county in Maryland that has such a rich history and is home to the formidable Harriet Tubman. It is important to understand that history and carry on the legacy of this American hero. Hosted by Honors Global Communities (HGC), the tour will take place on Sunday, April 23. The group will depart the University of Maryland at 10:30 a.m. and return to campus around 6:30 p.m. Light breakfast and a box lunch will be provided.

Six Finalist teams will pitch their project or venture and the impact they’ve created for the chance to win a share of more than $20,000.

Join Combating Overdoses in Rural Areas (CORA) at Jimenez Hall 0205 for an In-Person Overdose Response Training on April 26, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Become certified in opioid overdose response and learn how to use Naloxone. Upon completion of CORA's MD BHA-approved training, you will receive a certificate of training. This a great resume booster and no prior experience is required.
