The Honors College is proud to introduce the Ted Laster Impact Award, honoring the life, leadership, and legacy of a remarkable member of the UMD Honors community.
Ted Laster was a General Honors Program student who recognized the vital need to foster connection among Black students within Honors and across campus. Through his vision, he founded the Black Honors Caucus (BHC), building a lasting foundation of community, advocacy, and belonging. Following his passing in 2020 after a battle with cancer, this award was established to keep his impactful legacy alive.
This award celebrates a current UMD Honors student who has made significant contributions to the UMD, Honors, or broader community on issues of equity and social justice.
