Have you considered studying abroad? If so, this course is for you! If not, this course is definitely for you! In January 2026, a group of Bowie State University and University of Maryland College Park students will be traveling together to the beautiful country of Rwanda in East Africa to take a course entitled, “Restorative Justice and the Community: Histories of Healing in Rwanda.” There are no prerequisites for the course and the course will be submitted for general education and major requirements towards graduation.
The faculty will be Dr. Shannell Thomas, the Interim Chair of the Criminal Justice Dept at BSU, and Dr. Amy Morgan, a faculty member in the School of Public Health at UMD. This course will be in honor and remembrance of the life of Lt. Richard Collins, a Bowie State University student who was murdered in 2017.
