Applications are now open for students who want to become UNIV100 Transition Mentors at the University of Maryland. Transition Mentors help lead and support new freshmen by co-facilitating sections of UNIV100, the university’s first-year seminar. No prior mentoring experience is needed, and training is provided.
Mentors form close bonds with new students, develop leadership and communication skills, and become part of a diverse, supportive team. Participants earn three upper-level credits (DSSP). The deadline to apply is Friday, December 19, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST. The application form can be found at orientation.umd.edu/apply. Questions can be sent to transitionprograms@umd.edu. Students are encouraged to share this opportunity with friends and organizations.
