Seeking Latinx, Black/African-American students for study on educational equity

Dustin Hodgson’s dissertation, “Educational Equity: Examining the Barriers Faced by African American and LatinX Students During the College Admissions Process, After the Elimination of Affirmative Action,” explores the lived experience and perspective of African American and LatinX students in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2023 decision to eliminate race-conscious admissions policies (affirmative action).

The goal of this research is to better understand the systemic barriers that affect access to higher education for historically marginalized students. By gathering this important perspective, students of color will be able to contribute to a deeper understanding of how this policy change has impacted access to higher education for historically marginalized student populations. The information gathered will be used to analyze institutional equity and inform more inclusive policies in higher education.
