Volunteer with Conversations to Remember

Conversations to Remember, a nonprofit organization, invites students to participate in its virtual volunteer initiative, which focuses on reducing loneliness and isolation among senior citizens, including those living with dementia. The program matches teams of 2-3 college students with older adults for weekly virtual video visits. Sessions last up to one hour, depending on the senior’s needs, and students have the flexibility to select times that fit their schedules. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 16 weeks, fostering meaningful intergenerational friendships.

Student volunteers receive mandatory training to ensure constructive and respectful interactions with older adults during video calls, and ongoing support is provided throughout their time in the program. With the fully virtual format, students can participate from anywhere without the need to travel, making it a convenient way to contribute.

Those interested in volunteering more hours can take on additional roles such as social media support, outreach, call assistance, and other opportunities. These positions allow students to broaden their service and develop new skills.

The program welcomes students seeking service learning, internships, practicums, class projects, or extra credit, with virtual visits and training available year-round, and no need to align with semester schedules.

Students interested in volunteering can register by completing the interest form on the Conversations to Remember website. Questions or requests for flyers can also be addressed through the website.
