Jui Ramaprasad

Professor Jui Ramaprasad appointed the new faculty director of IBH

Please join us in welcoming Professor Jui Ramaprasad as the new Faculty Director of the Interdisciplinary Business Honors Program, effective March 1, 2024.

Prof. Ramprasad is an Associate Professor in Decision, Operations & Information Technology in the Smith School of Business. She is outstanding teacher and researcher in Information Systems with numerous publications and honors, and a leading world expert in digital platforms with applications in music and online dating. Her innovative work on online platform features and social influence has been featured in publications, symposia, and high-profile conferences she has chaired throughout the world, from New Zealand to Thailand to Spain, and including her alma mater, UC Irvine, and McGill University in Montreal, where she was a faculty member before joining UMD in 2020.

She also has played a major role as an Advance Professor at UMD serving as co-chair of a committee studying and making important recommendations about parental leave.

Among her many gifts and deep commitments, Prof. Ramaprasad is passionate about undergraduate students and multidisciplinary education. She has been the architect of many innovative courses, curricula, and programs that inspire students to conceive business (and life) through the lens of multiple fields, including dimensions of technology, human behavior, emergent industries, lived bodily experience and psychology, and the pursuit of a more equitable, inclusive, and civil world—all among the most important frontiers and challenges of our digital age.

We are very fortunate to have such an incredible colleague and leader joining our community.

Prof. Ramaprasad will, indeed, be the second legendary figure to assume the IBH Director role, as she takes the baton from Prof. Joe Bailey, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs in the Smith School. It is impossible to overstate the vision, dedication, and decency Joe has brought to IBH from the moment of its creation; and what Joe, and an amazing team including Associate Director Liz Galvin, Program Coordinator Jillian Cordial, and Dr. Jeanette Snyder, have done during the past two year is to create not only a pathbreaking program of national distinction, but one of genuinely humane community and values. We honor them all; fortunately, Joe will continue to support IBH in his role as Associate Dean and as a faculty member committed to the program’s mission to serve students; and we can only imagine the new heights IBH will strive for and achieve with its new pathbreaking Director!
