Register for AASP 498E on Hip Hop Culture for Winter Session 1

The course AASP 498E: A Critical Understanding of Hip Hop Culture and its Impact on Society encourages students to critically explore hip hop culture. This course utilizes hip hop culture as a point of departure to examine and dissect various social, historical and geopolitical issues that impact people of color around the world. The course is taught from a social justice-oriented approach that challenges students to be solutions-oriented and to step outside of their comfort zones. AASP 498E is riddled with Black history, social justice issues, media literacy and critical thought.

Professor Solomon Comissiong is a renowned hip hop historian, author, independent journalist, social activist and scholar.
