Join Amnesty International to advocate for human rights

Amnesty International is a global movement of millions of people demanding human rights for all people – no matter who they are or where they are. They are also the world’s largest grassroots human rights organization. They work to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied.

UMD Amnesty International’s mission is to spread awareness on campus about human rights violations and how students can get involved in human rights advocacy. The organization is committed to working toward change and has done work on a variety of issues such as racial injustice, women’s rights, refugee rights, reproductive justice, indigenous rights and ending gun violence. They provide many opportunities such as lobbying with Congress and other legislative bodies, conferences, attending protests and more. Joining the organization can be your first step to helping make your community a better
place!
