Information for Newly Admitted Students
The Honors College at the University of Maryland welcomes newly admitted students! The next steps to join the Honors College community are:
Students should tell the Honors College which living-learning programs interest them most by February 15, 2019
For best consideration, complete and submit your Honors College Preference Form in your Coalition account by February 15, 2019. The following links provide more information about the Honors College living-learning programs.
Confirm enrollment and apply for housing by May 1, 2019
Students must confirm their enrollment and apply for housing by May 1, 2019. Every new first-year student who desires to live in campus residence halls must complete the 2019-2020 Campus Housing and Dining Agreement by May 1 to be eligible to live on campus. This includes Honors College students. The housing agreement can be found at www.reslife.umd.edu by selecting the "Apply for Housing" button on the top right of the page. Missing the May 1 deadline may impact a student's ability to secure on-campus housing.
Register for orientation
Students should register for orientation with the Orientation Office. Students must attend a two-day orientation program in the summer to build their fall schedules. The Honors College invites newly admitted students to attend Honors Orientation, but students also have the option to attend a regular orientation. Honors Orientation is scheduled for June 19-20, June 27-28, and July 17-18.
Sign up for an optional summer adventure trip
Students are encouraged to sign up for an optional summer adventure trip with their Honors College classmates! The Honors College has partnered with the Office of Outdoor Recreation to host kayaking, backpacking, and canoeing camping trips for incoming Honors College students. The trips are a fantastic and fun opportunity for students to meet and bond with other incoming honors students.
