Shetty teaches the UMD Fellow Program’s Civic Leadership and Human Services Seminar. \nShetty has been active in local advocacy and organizing for over ten years. She served as the Vice-chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Party\, founded the Advocacy Committee within the Woman’s Democratic Club of Montgomery County\, and served on the board of Action Committee for Transit\, where she advocated for improvements to pedestrian safety and local transportation options. \nMolly McKee-Seabrook\, Associate Director of Government Relations at UMD. Seabrook worked as a legislative aide for state Sen. Bill Ferguson (D-Baltimore City) before becoming his chief of staff for eight years. In her current position with the University of Maryland she advocates for bills on behalf of the school and the university system. \nA Student Panel of UMD Fellows Program Graduate Assistants\, Jamal Oakman\, Jen Solan\, and Adam Cullen will also speak about their experiences interning at MGA.

Looking to gain insight from someone who has worked at Facebook\, Google\, and a past startup? \nStartup Shell is hosting Steve Shaw\, an engineer at Jump Trading\, to talk to the community about the traits of highly effective teams and individuals at failed startups and bloated big tech companies. \nSteve is currently an engineer at Jump Trading working on network performance engineering. He’s worked at Facebook when it was cool\, Google and a failed B-round startup.
