DESCRIPTION:The Mid-Atlantic Research Day is a collaborative event between the BMES of Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland\, College Park where students are able to showcase their research in a poster format (and compete against others for a $5000 prize pool). This year\, it will be held on the JHU campus on May 6\, 2023\, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Abstract submissions are due on March 31\, 2023. The Ficshell Department of Bioengineering is working to arrange transportation for this event. During this all-day conference\, students from all domains in the biomedical sciences can showcase their cutting-edge research and have the opportunity to participate in networking events\, discover new internships\, hear keynote speakers\, engage in career-building workshops\, enjoy free catered food\, and attend a mixer. DESCRIPTION:The Office of the President Ombuds Officers and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion are hosting a talk by esteemed author\, professor and speaker\, Dr. Tania Israel. The event will take place on Monday\, May 8th between 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in ESJ 2204. \nTania Israel is a Professor of Counseling Psychology at the University of California and award-winning author of Beyond Your Bubble: How to Connect Across the Political Divide\, Skills and Strategies for Conversations That Work (APA\, 2020). Dr. Israel’s work on dialogue across political difference has been received enthusiastically by professional conferences\, corporations\, campuses\, political organizations\, and faith communities. Her work has been highlighted on the TODAY show\, the New York Times\, the Washington Post\, NPR\, and in two widely viewed TEDx talks.
